To begin these pages let’s first get a wider view of the genesis of the club, and the individuals that helped us form, and inspired our development to where we are today. We have been fortunate to have the beacons of leadership and vision from within our community that is rarely paralleled anywhere else. Our founders, and those setting our predicates, had already given an exemplary service to our nation, and extended that commitment to those who served by laying the groundwork of an inspired single concept of Veterans serving neighbors after the weapons are set aside.
General Estes, a hero to this nation, was an inspiration to our club with his vision and leadership that made an indelible impact on what we can do as a collective group of veterans.
By the leadership of Captain Ruiz showing us that Oakmont hosted veterans that deserved a wider community recognition, the path was opened to forming the first beginning of the Oakmont vets club that we proudly celebrate now.
Colonel Vogl took that vision to the next level for our hundreds of veterans in Oakmont when he founded the club we now have.
We are still fortunate to have living in our community some WWII Vets represented here by our esteemed Wendel Freeman, who is currently 102 years old

It is only fitting to point out the fact that the members pages that follow, as well as the images from the leaders shown above, are all derived from the Hall of Honor posters built with the hard work and dedication of our members for the 2024 Veterans Day event
