This new year comes with many new things to present to you. There are some new upcoming events and activities to cover, along with some new leadership, with new functions of offices, and more changes for our organizational structure to follow with reporting of specifics over the next few weeks and months ahead.
We remind you that our Chairman, John De Groot has officially declared his candidacy and is running for a seat on the Oakmont Village Association Board of Directors in this years election to be held through April 7th. If you can volunteer to help, contact John at jdegroot@soni.net. In the meantime he will continue to serve our club in his role as Chairman until we can officially nominate and elect a new Chair to fill the role. We honor his service to our club, and wish him GODSPEED!
Also, we hope you will remember to register (and RSVP) for the variety of therapy and body work being offered to our members which will occur at the Berger Center on March 27th. Get on the roster early for selecting the therapies you want to receive. Also remember that your club dues should be paid for the year to have free entrance, and unpaid members will be requested a $5 entry donation. Don’t miss this event, we hope to see you there.

Some of last years’ activities included this
well-deserved “Beer Call” at the BIRD!
This year some of our Club members met to
raise a glass, and have a bite on January 30 at the Palooza
just down the road from the Oakmont,
enjoying a festive kick-off of the new year,

We hope that next year our “Beer Call” will host more
of our members to come out and celebrate with us!

2024 will be a year to remember,
and it sets the table perfectly for an epic
2025 for all our great members.

Before we look ahead to our next big event of 2025 for the Berger Center, we need to first take care of a bit of old, and then some new business regarding our first big fundraiser held on January 4th. We had a fabulous good time with our first ever concert and dance event featuring our wonderful band “DEATH AND TAXES”, and with the help of all our super volunteers and guests, and the staff of the OVA, we had a BIG SUCCESS!! With all your help we raised thousands of dollars to send some of our very own Oakmont Vets on the North Bays’ premiere Honor Flight this year on April 28th. Further, we have selected and confirmed our local vets that will be going on a flight!

Our friends and colleagues above are the vets selected to go on a flight! At the time of this publication we were just informed that the first flight plane had filled up entirely, so the Honor Flight folks have deferred the trip for Ron Holladay until the next flight out which will be announced for dates soon, and we will keep you informed of the new itinerary when we know the details.
And now for a special look ahead to two big items. First, an event worth mentioning, since we are talking about our first great event above, we can now be looking forward to an encore show with our new favorites, “DEATH AND TAXES”, a bit later this year. On Tuesday, April 18th, 2025, at the Berger Center we are very pleased to announce that the Oakmont Vets Club will be hosting a special second fundraiser concert and social event to raise the last needed funds to send our selected Oakmont Veterans on the first ever Honor Flight from the North Bay in conjunction with our partners at: https://nbhonorflights.org
We also need to mention that the Honor Flights organization is now looking for some volunteers to help send off our vets from the airport on April 28th, and then to welcome them all back home when they return on April 30th. Also, they need volunteers to help write and coordinate letters to our vets as an added gesture honoring their brave service to us all. If you can help contact us, or reach out to nbhonorflights.org/support/ or reach out to their volunteer people at; shelly@nbhonorflight.org or to Mission CO at nicole@nbhonorflight.org.
The 40’s and 50’s SWING BAND
DEATH AND TAXES
This second event will kick off at 5:00PM with a special swing dance class event, bring an appetizer of your choice, and BYOB. The Concert will begin at 7PM sharp for your listening and dancing pleasure! We look forward to seeing you there at the encore.

Tickets are $30 in advance, and $35 at the door. You can purchase tickets by emailing at pngowins@yahoo.com, or jdegroot@sonic.net, or at info@oakmontvetsclub.org, and tell us how many seats you want reserved in your name, or by dropping a check by the OVA office to go in the Oakmont Vets Club folder, or you can soon visit our “DONORS AND SPONSORS” page here on our website, when we complete our construction, or you can simply buy your tickets at the door when the event begins. If you buy at the door please have a check or exact amount for us ($35).
In the mean time, enjoy this performance of “Johnney be Good” recorded by “DEATH AND TAXES” SWING BAND at our show last January 4th at the Berger
Also, watch for new links of their performances at the show, and some other special videos now being edited.
We hope to see you all there at the Berger on April 18th! Get your tickets early because we expect a sellout this time!
And now we have one more great event to cover that will happen even before we get to go see our Big Band again. A few weeks earlier, on March 27th at the Berger we will host an equally exciting and important event that many of our members will want to attend. There is a local group of special heath practitioners, acupuncturists, physical and massage therapists and cutting edge medical professionals working with PTSD, and various traumatic issues. They are simply an exceptional group of dedicated people who have devoted their practice to the service of First Responders, and Military personnel, both active and veteran. They have been treating me for over a year now, and I couldn’t be without their services now. And now they want to come here to give a special collective presentation to our club members, and follow that with free targeted treatments for all our members that want and need their work. They call themselves “The6”, as in we got your 6…,
But, here’s the deal. They are making themselves available to our vets club members for their welfare, so if you are a full current member the treatments are free, and if you are not a full member without dues, we ask that you make a $5 contribution to the club at the door. Either way it is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to receive treatments that are truly a benefit to health and wellbeing. They will be working out an arrangement with us to have a regular series of events and treatments on an ongoing basis.
If you have not yet paid your club dues and wish to become a full member, please email me at: pngowins@yahoo.com, or, pgowins@oakmontvetsclub.org and I will get you set up.
